In addition, the survey found that more than 80% of businesses believe that music is important their business and 88% of businesses play music daily or 4-5 days a week.
Andreas Liffgarden, co-founder and chairman of Soundtrack Your Brand, said: “Lack of innovation has driven small businesses to choose consumer services, as they are far more accessible and easy-to-use than most business alternatives.
“We need a new generation of business-to-business streaming services, attractive to business owners, that make sure music makers get fair compensation.”
Earlier this year, the bodies representing music copyright holders merged to form a new joint venture called PPL PRS, it now supplies music licences to businesses.
